Moments with Mom

Last month, I wrote about wanting to get in the frame more often. You can read about it here. I had great intentions but it's a hard task to commit to. I get busy, I forget, I get lazy and ultimately I take my time with my kids while they are still young for granted.

What's the saying? "The years are short but the days are long." It's so true, it doesn’t help that I have the tendency to focus on how the long the days feel. I get caught up in the day to day struggles of being a mom. Forgetting how short the years truly are, that is until it's too late. Ridden with guilt and craving memories of a specific time with my kids, I'll make promises myself saying, “I’ll do better.” Then the cycle starts over.

I had an eye-opening moment earlier last week that helped to break me out of my cycle. One of my friends on Facebook praised his wife for taking an amazing photo of him with their son. He made the comment that there would be no proof of memories without her. It got me thinking, really thinking, about the proof of memories my kids have of me. Sad to say, they don't have much. I have photos of them with their dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles. Heck, the dog has more pictures with my kids than I do. I'm blessed to have some taken by my mom or husband but I want my kids to have more. It was at that moment I decided it was time to make good on all the commitments I've made to myself.

Last week, whenever I felt like I needed a photo of something, I took it. I didn't care what I looked like or how clean the house was. I want to give my children a small window in time, one that will let them see a moment from their past they won't be able to remember years from now.

I'm so happy with how these photo turned out, each is one a perfect example of how our days together really are.

If you are like me and want to give your family the gift of a precious memory frozen in time, send me an email or a message through Facebook.  I want to work with your family to create an heirloom your family can enjoy for generations.
